If Paul Pogba, Manchester United's record purchase, wants to leave Old Trafford in the summer, Ralf Rangnick will not try to persuade him otherwise.

Rangnick has warned that United's injured players must be treated at the club's Carrington headquarters in the future, after Pogba returned from Dubai on Friday after three weeks of rehab.

The Frenchman's contract will expire at the end of the season, allowing him to leave United for free for the second time after rejoining for £89 million in 2016.

Rangnick, the interim manager, believes that a club of United's prominence should not have to persuade players to sign new contracts.

Rangnick stated, "Players must want to play and stay at a huge club like Manchester United."

'I don't think it makes sense to try to persuade a player to alter his mind if he doesn't want to play for a club like Manchester United in the medium or long term.''I don't believe anyone in the club should try to persuade a player to stay,' says the coach.

On Tuesday, Rangnick spoke with Pogba over the phone, and the two men will meet in person on Sunday.

Pogba has been healing in Dubai from a thigh injury, but Rangnick will insist in the future that players use the club's medical facilities.

'I would not want players to undertake their rehab abroad or anywhere else,' he added, 'but Paul's decision was made before I arrived.'

'I've already spoken with the medical staff, and I want injured players to stay here in the future.'
